Summer of 2018 is a variate time for me. This is my first time ever traveling alone.  I've applied an exchange program for one semester to Cal Poly, Pomona. There's excite, concern, and a tipsy of fear for the unknown future.

HOW EVERYTHING

BEGAN

To apply the exchange program,

you'll have to prepare everything (resume, a higher GPA for the recent semester, and TOEIC) a year before hand. Therefore, I applied my third year Fall exchange during my second year winter break. It's a period when most of my classmates just started preparing for their English Competency certification. In result, I'm the ONLY student that applied and got accepted to the program.

While everyone has their own piece of mind of what and why they want to study abroad, mine has nothing to do with american dream anymore. I used to dream of studying abroad, that was high school and it always brought my family into conflict and quarrel. I got tired of my day to day routine in Taiwan and I wanted to learn something new.

SO MUCH LEARNED

WHAT WE DO

On the other hand,

I realized despite some of the students are lost here too, but the strategy of how school manages to educate students are way more constructive and built up comparing to my school back home.

Here, they have you know that designing is a process, not a solution that is accurate...

WHAT IS YOUR FAV MOMENT IN THIS PROJECT?

There are so much learned working on projects here that I can't just write them all down here. The most important lesson to take away with me must be the method to work on design. Being able to judge your own work. Learn to "taste" it. What are the good moments and what are the ones you would like to take on along with you.

With Pr. Hofu's highly recommendation,

exchange students are encouraged to take the class "California Architecture" which not only introduces upon the architecture history of Cal but also, more importantly take us on field trips once every two~ three weeks! Click below to check out what happened each trip.
