PREFACE
Wang Chi-Chien.
Friends say that the name reminds them of flowers, beautiful and tenacious.
One not only can understand others by glimpsing into the meaning of the name, but also how one learns from its own life experience: Some people wait for others to tell them what they should do with their own future, while my mother educates me to create my own opportunities to learn.

A GRADUATION GIFT
"Welcome to the HPCL (High school Photography Club League) Annual Exhibition’s opening tea party! Now we have our General Coordinator, also the curator of this exhibition: Wang Chi-Chien to deliver a speech for us. "
The "HPCL" consists of eight high schools’ photography club from three different cities. As a retired cadre, after receiving the notice of admission from NTUST, I wrote and proposed to my school's photography club: That I should hold a special HPCL Annual Exhibition, which has never been done before for.
The exhibition started in April 2017 at the 5 senses cafe near NTUST. The curatorial took one year, costs NT$ 110,000 under Nikon's partial sponsorship, and lasted for three months.
Standing in front of the stage, I said:
"In the past year, both my classmates and friends from college have asked the same question as my parents, “You are no longer a high school student, how come you are so desperate to hold the HPCL’s Annual Exhibition? "
The crowd quieted.
Opening Party at
5 senses!
The Annual Exhibition was to prove myself.
I consider myself as a person of great ideas and ambitions, pride makes me unwilling to be seen as a foolish man; since there was no such opportunity in life for me to prove myself, then I create one. With this Annual Exhibition I was forced to face my own shortcomings: Impulsive and often biting more than I can chew. First few months of curatorial I dreamed, sooner or later I’ve come to face the problem upon how to persuade eight clubs to provide their resources? Fortunately, I was gifted with eloquence and analyzing. Once a member of the HPCL, it is not hard to find how much the students crave for a chance to prove their own either. That longing happens to coincide with my motive, and there we share a common goal.
A year later, the event was luckily a success.

A CAPELLA CLUB
Nowadays, as a sophomore looking back at the event, it seems obvious that the success of the exhibition takes credit upon the role I play linking up eight schools. However, my heart knows that without the right timing and opportunity, without the students of HPCL I will not have succeed. The reason I said, " luckily a success" in the previous paragraph was that I would not be able to command the students without the help of my Vice Coordinator, who is also the president of one of the eight clubs. If there were not for my classmate who introduces us to Nikon, we will not have the chance to get thirty thousand dollars sponsorship, and a free lecture during the exhibition.
I realized that how humble the position “General Coordinator” of a student club is: Students rely on their "preference" to determine their level of effort, not to mention the adequacy of their ability. It’s like pulling a hand of strings, the strings run in different directions and you’ll have to pull them back each time. A year's time was not for the curating itself, but also for me to figure out what these students want and how to gain approval and support from them. I offered the opportunity and ways to change, and they provided me a stage to play. Building from nothing to everything in the exhibition, I’ve then realized what it is to truly work for oneself.

VOTE YOUR FAV WORK !
The summer I graduated from high school, I may not be able to answer the question, "Why are you so desperate to hold the HPCL’s Annual Exhibition? "
In the eyes of many people this is a dowry for others. As a freshman, I will say,
"It is to gain the experience that school can’t teach, and people in society don’t want you to learn." As a sophomore, I said, "It is to prove myself."
NIKON SCHOOL LECTURE
They are both correct: As one is telling others what I can practically benefit from, and the other is the true intention. There is no calculation of interest for me to hold the exhibition, it’s purely for my own sake; therefore I found a solution and managed to achieve it. As the teachers once said, "No one just planned his or her own success. It is an opportunity.”
Therefore, I believe to do what others are unwilling to pay is a road less people travel; and most successful people stand on the less traveled road.
"Thank you for your support today, I am Chi-Chien and I am pleased to meet you."
