To Bianca’s insist, we visited the Salk Instatute before we made it to the woman’s club. Sadly, we didn’t make it inside the building because they are only open during the weekdays. However, we did make a small tour around the building. Not until seeing it myself (little homework have I done before visiting here) have I realize the back side of the buildings are windows made by wooden panels and how strong the programming of this architecture is. What I admire this project the most is how it combines the nature as a part of it self. The scene or view this building creates will not be complete until you build it and see its interaction with nature.

Another great example of how architects apply their intention through work of space. They say what Irving Gill is trying to do here is to lessen as much work for cleaning in this space for woman. However, seeing the complicated furnishing in the house after words, I do still doubt whether the intention of his actually works.

I dig the idea of “background and foreground” architecture. In my opinion, background architecture doesn’t necessary means it has less design through it. Most Japanese architect such as Tado Ando (despite what people are disappointed with him recently) are dealing with background architecture due to the density of their country. Whereas, most of their work focus more on the inside of the building instead of the outside.
