I dig the idea of “background and foreground” architecture. In my opinion, background architecture doesn’t necessary means it has less design through it. Most Japanese architect such as Tado Ando (despite what people are disappointed with him recently) are dealing with background architecture due to the density of their country. Whereas, most of their work focus more on the inside of the building instead of the outside.
