The Ocean and the Star

The Ocean is grand, it embraces all life.

The Ocean is deep, it hides secrets:

people come to it and speak of things they wish no one knew.

The Ocean rises and falls with the cycle of the moon.

The Ocean cleanses but is also tinted by whatever it touches.

The Ocean is stubborn, as it will not move an inch even if you want to.

Some days the Ocean is gentle, the other days he’s not.

One day, the Ocean felt lonely.

Oh! How he misses the Shore, where he meets Mother Earth

— the only place where he felt unconditionally loved.

So he stretched his body but somehow couldn’t reach her.

Then he tries again, this time even harder.

Boats flipped and the waves tore, he created a mess while still in vain.

Suddenly he hears someone chuckling.

He looked around, but no one was there.

“Hehehehehe!”

He looks up into the sky and sees a Star.

The Star glares back at him with a smile.

“What you laughing at?” Ocean roars.

Splash! A tide hits the cove.
