The little mermaid puts great energy into the illusion of love to fulfill my own fantasy. She don't truly know what love is, or if she ever need a relationship.
Once she begins to process on her needs in love, her answer seems to be none.
Matter of fact is, she actually enjoys solitary most of the time and the rest spent being with her friends and family.
Her problem is that she likes the idea of romances, therefore she enjoys playing a role of a generous lover who spoils their partner. This could be harmful were she not careful with it. Since she easily play a role of motherhood out of her own expectation instead of the children's needs in the future.
The fact that she is pleasing her own emotions, manipulating her own intensions in the name of love is sickness.
