How long is eight minutes?
It is approximately the duration sunlight takes to travel to Earth.
It is the perfect distance out of a million,
Where the Star remains warm without a burn.
Eight is also a beautiful number.
it’s not too hasty like five,
to show that I care.
Not too long like ten,
so one always has enough to share.
This is the frame a Father can spare in that meeting,
The comfort of calling a friend during lunch break in one sitting,
The time to read through a letter and recover from that gut feeling.
However,
Time seems to travel differently
not just through Gravity,
But when two like-minded people speak.
Or else,
How do eight minutes turn into two hours,
And two hours into four in the morning?
If Time has no end or beginning,
My friend,
let’s make eight minutes an eternity.
Save these 480 seconds in a watch for me,
And be reminded whenever you’re lonely
That you’ll always have
Eight minutes
with me.
